Human Resources Manager / Gerente de recursos humanos
Ms. Salazar is the Human Resources Manager at DC Bilingual Public Charter School. In this role she oversees the school’s programs and policies as they apply to employee relations, compensation, benefits, performance and staffing. Ms. Salazar incorporates DC Bilingual’s dynamic mission, clear vision, and strategic goals in the design and implementation of the HR program.
Sacha has over fifteen years of professional experience in operations, human resources, and education. She graduated from Vanderbilt University with a B.A. in Latin American Studies and Linguistics and a minor in Spanish. Upon graduation she received a commission as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Air Force and served on active duty for six years. She then received a M.Ed. in Secondary Education with a focus on English as a Second Language from the George Washington University. Throughout her adult life Ms. Salazar has lived and worked both domestically and internationally and most recently was the Administrative Director for a private Spanish immersion Montessori school in San Diego, California.
Sacha was born in Fall River, Massachusetts and lived in Rhode Island for most of her childhood. She is a third-generation Portuguese American and was deeply involved in her community as a child, mostly as a member of her family’s musical group, The Lebre Family. A highlight of her experiences occurred in 1988 when The Lebre Family was invited to represent Massachusetts and perform at the Smithsonian Folklife Festival!
Ms. Salazar is married to a first-generation Guatemalan immigrant and is also the parent of three young children, two of whom attend DC Bilingual. She and her husband are intentionally raising their three children as bicultural citizens, and all are extremely excited to be a part of the DC Bilingual family!
