Principal / Directora
Alina Thouyaret is the Principal of DC Bilingual Public Charter School and oversees the school’s academic program, while providing supervision and coaching to all teaching staff and instructional specialists. Ms. Thouyaret works closely with DCB’s instructional coaches to develop differentiated professional development and data-driven instruction in both English and Spanish and in all subject areas. She also oversees the school-wide behavior program. Ms. Thouyaret recently completed the New Leaders Aspiring Principal’s Program.
Ms. Thouyaret has worked as an educator in Washington, DC for over nine years. Before becoming Assistant Principal, she served DCB’s diverse community as a teacher, instructional coach, and science curriculum writer. In each of these roles, Ms. Thouyaret has collaborated to shape the bilingual program at DC Bilingual and develop the Spanish curriculum from Prek to 5th Grade. She also spearheaded the development of the Science program. DC Bilingual currently provides all students with over four hours a week of hands-on science instruction, completely in Spanish and with full implementation of the Next Generation Standards for Science.
Alina was born and raised in a multilingual setting in Latin America. She has a Masters of Arts in Education from American University and a Masters of Arts in Spanish Studies & Linguistics as well as a B.A. in Teaching from the University of Buenos Aires. Ms. Thouyaret is devoted to continuing to develop effective bilingual practices and instruction for all students in their primary years.
