Lester Matlock

Lester Matlock is a DCB founding parent (of three!) and an Ex Officio Board Chair with more than 15 years of experience in the Charter movement.

Since 2012, he has served in various roles including Board Chair, Board Vice Chair and Board Parent Representative. Before becoming involved with DCB, he worked 21 years as Director of Administration and Finance at the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), Project 2016.

Project 2016 created research and develop tools and services that educators, researchers, and policymakers can use to make critical and lasting improvements in the nation’s education system.

Prior to working at AAAS, he worked 20 years at the National Academy of Sciences, Office of Publication, producing scientific and technical publications. He has a B.S. in Personnel Management and Labor Relations from the University of Maryland.
